Analogy for our Freedom Fight
Over the last few days, in our down moments, usually while we eat, we have been watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Today we stayed home from church because Liam is still contagious with the chicken pox. As we watched the final of the trilogy, THE RETURN OF THE KING, I was struck with the many analogies that can be put to use with our fight for freedom.
The fact that our purpose in life, our destiny is to complete this task before us, just as Frodo's task was to destroy the ring. The fact that we are in a battle against complacency, against socialism and mediocracy. The fact that we have battle scars from our journey and will have more battles to fight before we win the BIG victory of diamondhood. There was one part were Sam says to Frodo that he may not be able to carry the burden for Frodo but he can carry him, to me symbolized that our TEAM may not be able to build this business for us, but they can carry us through with their experiences and their encouragement.
There is also the time where the Elf Princess lifted Frodo up when he fell by reminding him that this was his purpose to fulfil and that if he didn't, no one else will. Also when they talk about going back, Frodo says he has come this far, he can't go back now. Their determination, their will to succeed no matter what the obstacle inspires me to continue on our journey, on our task to complete it no matter what the obstacle and that we will have victory should we persist.
Dreams are worth fighting for. Wayne Gretsky says, "You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take." I would rather die trying then to have never tried at all.
